Evgen Lisniak

Born 1994, Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine.
Lives and works in Düsseldorf.

Yevhen Lisniak creates large-scale abstract paintings and installations that operate at the intersection of spatial manipulation and material memory. A graduate of the Lviv National Academy of Arts, where he studied Monumental Painting, and of the Contemporary Art course at the Kyiv Academy of Media Arts (KAMA), Lisniak brings a rigorous, architectonic sensibility to surface and scale.

Drawing from the muted tones of post-Soviet stairwells and the expressive urgency of 1990s Ukrainian streets, his works layer tension – between line and plane, impulse and control, gesture and silence. Nervous scratches collide with vivid, fashion-industry-inflected color fields, resulting in a painterly language that is both raw and intentional.

At once expansive and intimate, Lisniak’s compositions read like open-ended scores or spatial arguments – where disagreement is not only possible, but necessary.
